What A Year

Once again I apologize, but I was on vacation and went on our first ever cruise. It was totally amazing and some well deserved time off. With that said...It's time to get back into this.

One Headset To Rule Them All...

Well it seem that the Platinum Wireless Headset now has an official release date of January 10th, 2017. What is great about these is that not only does it have 2 yes that is two mics, but also is 7.1 along with 3D Positional audio. What is that you ask? Well imagine if you will that you are sitting in a sphere and sound is coming at you in all directions. Imagine playing Uncharted 4 for example and someone calling for Drake below and you could hear it below you or gunshots being shot above you...it's not a gimmick or an eq setting. This is the real deal. Add this with PSVR and you will have on truly immersive experience. It just seems odd that this is a Wednesday, but hey I will take it. These will be selling for $159.99 and will be available from Amazon, Best Buy, Gamestop and other retail and online locations. I honestly cannot wait to compare these to the Pulse Elite Headset.

Final Countdown:

Well I have been asked for a countdown of sorts and thought since we are about to hit 2017 and I have some coffee, we should do a countdown of the PSVR titles that I have tried and honestly wanted to share my thoughts. And since a lot of people either just got their PS4 for Christmas and/or PSVR, they may want to know what is good to play. Just remember, each person is going to have their own tastes in what they like and what I may like someone else may not and vice versa. This is all meant to be fun, so without out any more delay, I present the Final Countdown of 2016

I had to :)

Best Display Stand:

Well when we all got our PSVR's or those who just got theirs for Christmas, you may be looking for a stand or display to keep them on. Look no further than the Collective Minds PSVR Charge and Display Stand. Not only will it display your PSVR very nicely, but has a place to charge two move controllers, two ps4 dual shock controllers and even will hold your headset and charge them as well. When the something is being charged, the light is red on that accessory and when it's fully charged it turns blue and only for $34.99.

Keep in mind that at the time of writing this it is out of stock at Amazon, but GameStop might be the better choice as some stores around you may have it in stock.

Best Headset:

Now with the PSVR it uses 3D Audio to help with the immersion. Not all headsets are created equal, but there was one that for what it is, for what it was designed to do and that is create a great sound as well as fit nicely around the PSVR helmet and feel awesome and these feel very light. The sound is good as it has a built in amp and the battery life is great and right now they are normally $79.99, but can be found for $59.99 and well worth that price. The Turtle Beach 350vr headset not only will not break the bank, but matches the color of the PSVR. Keep in mind if you can wait, get the Platinum Wireless Headset from SONY that will take full advantage of the 3D audio as well have positional audio. So if under $100 is all you can spend and it being right after Christmas, then go get these. If you got some gift cards and come January 10th, 2017 want what will be the top of the line PS4 and PSVR headset then wait on the Platinum Wireless Headset.

Now on to the games and apps...

Apps and Experiences:

If you are looking for a great way to experience PSVR and not wanting to break the bank, then these should help, plus it's a nice way to relax and just have some fun.

Hulu - Yes Hulu we all know this very well, but did you know that the Hulu app that is for PS4 also includes a VR section and it works very well. You can change the setting where you are watching. Nothing like sitting on a beach and enjoying

Jaunt - Download the free Jaunt VR app and watch over 150 premium, cinematic virtual reality experiences across your favorite genres: MUSIC, SPORTS, FILM, and TRAVEL!

MUST-SEE CONTENT:
- Watch the 5-part Invisible series by Doug Liman, Director of The Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow
- Get into college football like never before with ESPN Gameday
- Enjoy VR documentaries Inside Syria and Inside North Korea by ABC News
- Be there with adventure athletes in amazing locations in the Home Turf series
- Be on stage with Paul McCartney and more in the Music World
- Get spooked in the The Game, a Jaunt Original, in the Horror World

Allumette -  If your looking for a story told and shown in a way that only VR can, then take the time to experience this. You feel like a giant, but you are able to peek through windows and look around. The whole story is about 20 minutes and is free

Now what probably tops the list in this category is something I bought day 1. Remember looking at your horoscope every day and to see it would come true. Sometimes it did, sometimes it was just a small part of it. For this, there could only be one way to bring all of that to a full immersive experience where you get to have your fortune told in a 1 on 1 gypsy like way. Just make sure you come by everyday to see what the stars and the cards have for you. For only $6.99 this experience is at the top of the list...I present...Kismet

Horror:

Ahhh Horror and PSVR just go together. Bringing you into it's world and making you the victim and sometimes making it like your very own Saw movie.

The Brookhaven Experiment - Wanted to be surrounded outside where you have a limited amount of ammo along with a limited amount of battery for your flash light and creatures coming at you from all angles with sometimes just the sound of your breath will scare you. $19.99

Weeping Doll - Weeping Doll is an excellent game. It's more of investigation that you have to piece together the story of what happened. The more you listen, explore and discover, the more you will be rewarded. Can you find out what happened to the family? Well worth the price of $9.99

Here They Lie - enter an uncanny horror experience where death is not a checkpoint. Delve into an inescapable, surreal world where unsettling encounters and environments come to life. Here They Lie is a mind bending first-person VR descent into madness. This is truly immersive, just remember you are there, so you may need to take a break. For $19.99

Rush Of Blood - If you want a game that adds you on a roller coaster of fear along with shooting the evil away all from the minds of Until Dawn, then Rush of Blood is for you. Only for 19.99 and totally worth it.

So the next one technically does not come out until January 24th, but did release the demo in 2016. If you took Saw, Texas Chainsaw Massacre throw in some sprinkles of Friday the 13th, with some whip cream of dreams of Nightmare on Elm Street, you will have Resident Evil 7. There will be many many of us who will make it completely dark in our homes and play this all the way in full vr only to get to the point where they stop to try to escape only to forget they turned off the lights...for $59.99 for the standard or $89.99 for the deluxe which comes with basically extra 4 short side stories and 2 additional story episodes.

VR Mode Added - These games are great on their own, but when VR is added it takes them to the next level.

100 Ft. Robot Golf - Ever wanted to be a robot playing golf where you can deflect the other players shot to make them miss or how about slamming them into buildings...yes that is 100 Ft. Robot Golf. $19.99

Now normally I would not do a tie, much less a 3 way tie, but these three deserve to be played...

Bound - Bound transports you into a beautiful, fantastical world that exists in the mind of a woman revisiting the memories of her childhood. Use dance moves to traverse vast environments filled with platforming challenges. As the game progresses, the introspective story unfolds through powerful metaphor and imagery, adding emotional depth to the protagonist’s journey. Honestly one of the most beautiful games. $19.99

Thumper -Thumper is rhythm violence: classic rhythm-action, blistering speed, and brutal physicality. You are a space beetle. Brave the hellish void and confront a maniacal giant head from the future. Scream down the endless track and crash through punishing obstacles with simple, airtight controls. Hurtle forward, master new moves, reach overwhelming velocities, and survive adrenalizing boss battles. Every crushing impact is interwoven with a pounding original soundtrack. To reach synesthetic bliss, you must go through rhythm hell. $19.99.

Rez Infimate - Prepare yourself for the ultimate version of Rez, a thrilling journey of sights and sounds and shooting action, remastered and upgraded by members of the original development team exclusively for PS4 and (optional) PlayStation VR. Experience 360 degrees of mind-blowing synesthesia as you blast through waves of enemies and massive transforming bosses, with colors and sounds that sync and blend to the beat of Rez’s legendary techno soundtrack.Whether you’re an old fan of the original Sega classic or never heard of Rez before, whether you’re playing on your TV or your PS VR headset, whether you’re looking for a quick diversion or a deeper game you can lose yourself in for hours at a time -- you owe it to your senses to experience Rez Infinite. $29.99

Shooter - What's VR without a shooting experience? These games each have their special touch and deserve to be experienced.

Pixel Gear - Pixel Gear is a pixel style VR shoot-em-up game with a variety of humorous cartoon monsters and ghosts as enemies.. Use your skills and weapons to defeat them, gain energy and apply your skills wisely to slow down the time and load infinite bullets. Observe the environment carefully. Do not miss the ghosts with stealth abilities as they can supply tons of magical items to help you. Keep on shooting, in the pixel battle field! $10.99

Lethal VR - Lethal VR is an immersive Virtual Reality weapons experience for the PlayStation®VR brought to you from Three Fields Entertainment, creators of Burnout, BLACK and Dangerous Golf. Step into the shoes of an FBI Recruit and be tested in a series of weapons simulation exercises, featuring a variety of small weapons. After each challenge you will be graded on your performance. Social - Social games on PSVR are a total blast and are well deserved and welcomed.

Werewolves Within - Probably one of the best social games out there. Try to figure out who amongst you is the werewolf. This is a total blast. $29.99

Everything Else - Some of these could easily be put into their own category like sports or action or adventure, but some would over lap and I didn't really want to have repeats. I also didn't want to have a top 20 list, but like I have mentioned, each game and app deserve to be experienced. So here you go...

Carnival Games VR - You may not think it, but this actually a fun game to play and works very well in VR.
$19.99

Eagle Flight - Where else can you soar like an Eagle or play a game of capture the flag with others. $29.99

t your mind go as you are soaring through the clouds that does tell a wonderful story. $19.99

Job Simulator - Ok this has to be the most fun you can have and really is all around you immersive. Set in the future where you learn what it was like to have a job. Feel free to throw anything anywhere you want. $29.99.

Playing The Walking Dead table, there might be a zombie or two trying to distract you. $14.99 for the main game, $24.99 for Season 1 pack and $5.99 for The Walking Dead Table.

Robinson: The Journey - Dinosaurs + Planet = amazing. If you have the PS4 PRO along with this game, the graphics are really amazing. This is puzzle based, but truly one of those games that should not be missed. If you buy the game on PSN it's $59.99, but if you buy it at Amazon, BestBuy and GameStop it's $39.99.

RIGS Mechanized Combat League - The future of sports is here. 3 vs 3 mech that throws basketball into the mix. Can you bring your online team to victory? $59.99

There will be more, but all of the ones listed here I did buy, some were on sale and some were full price. So dedicated I am. I just wanted to share with everyone what I have experienced and maybe there is a gem in there that you didn't think about it and may be your new favorite. Great Time Of Year

Well it's been a busy one. But Thanksgiving and Black Friday are now past us and come Monday we will be have Cyber Monday. There will be plenty of deals going on in regards to sales. Did you pick up anything for Black Friday or will you be picking up something on Cyber Monday or will you wait and see what each week brings as it gets closer to Christmas?

Did anyone pick up a PS4 PRO and used it with the PSVR?

If you are waiting for the reviews to get the PS4 PRO even though the PSVR works with the original PS4, then I am going to say this...it does help. Robinson: The Journey is one fine example of how the PRO can help. The graphics have been beefed up to play on the PRO to a really wow factor. If you are planning on buying Robinson: The Journey, it seems the PSN store still has it for $59.99, but GameStop and Amazon has it for $39.99, so the choice is yours. So far the only negative thing I will say is if you have an HDR TV or got one on Black Friday, the processing box on PSVR does not support HDR pass through, so you do have to switch out the HDMI cable every time you go from PSVR to PS4 PRO only if you want the HDR game play. Other than that...

Recent and Upcoming:

Holoball by Treefortress Games came out on November 22nd. Putting in a full arena with that game stat started it all. Take PONG throw in some racquetball and discs of Tron and you have Holoball. Keep in mind you will be moving and is only $14.99 and can be purchased here

How We Soar  by Penny Black Studios, came out on Tuesday November 29th and originally looked to be at the $29.99 price mark, but was actually released for $19.99. In case you are not sure what How We Soar is, you are riding on a phoenix flying through the air. I will say, this has to be one of the most calming enjoyable PSVR titles. There is a story aspect, so if you get the chance to play this, experience it you should. Check out the trailer below and you can purchase it here

Pinball FX2 VR by Zen Studios also came came out on Tuesday 29th. Yes this has been released before on PS4, but wow on PSVR it works. So you might be thinking, pinball...vr? Yes now mix them together and enjoy this time. When you start the game it look like you are in room of a house or could be an apartment. You see three tables. One of the tables is Mars and when you are playing it's like your surroundings is in outer space with meteors and rockets to add to it. The game also has leader boards so you can see who the top of the top is. One of the tables you can buy is The Walking Dead and is based on the Tell Tale version, but very impressive. Fog is all around you, you can see a zombie and again just works. Pinball FX2 VR is only $14.99 and The Walking Dead table is $5.99. There is also the season 1 pack for $24.99.

(not an official PSVR trailer)

(not an official PSVR trailer)

And to close out the hat trick of PSVR releases is Crystal Rift. Now Crystal Rift is a dungeon crawler that has been released on other platforms and finally has made it to the PSVR. Please keep in mind this is a horror challenge type of game and through 26 levels, you will slowly uncover the narrative and story through exploration discovering dark secrets and following the path of those who have come before you. Crystal Rift is only $12.99 and can be purchased here

Coming out on December 6th is the Starwars Battlefront Rouge One VR mission. Take flight in an X-Wing and will be free to all Battlefront owners.

Game night comes on December 6th, we have from Ubisoft, Werewolves Within. The premise of the game is that your village is being attacked by werewolves. While one minute you may be trying to rid your home of werewolves, minutes later you might actually be the one trying to convince everyone else that you are not the one in this multiplayer game and only for $29.99.

As we come to the final month of 2016, remember there are still games to be played, fun still to be had in VR and this is a Great time of the year.

A Combo Of Things

I hope everyone is doing awesome in the world of PlayStation Nation. So who scored a PS4 PRO? Who has used it the PSVR? I can say this...very impressive. Just last night I tried out Robinson: The Journey. Everything was so clear, so smooth that I was actually stopping and just enjoying the details the of the plants and my new adopted pet dino while trying to play a game of Hide and Seek. In case you don't know what Robinson: The Journey is, check out the trailer.

Do you need the PRO?

Many have asked if you need the PRO or does it make the difference everyone is talking about? Well if you are happy with your original PS4 and don't have a 4k TV then you will be fine. But, if you do want a more clearer PSVR experience, then Yes the PS4 PRO might be for you. Now even if you don't have a 4K TV, the PS4 PRO will help out even on 1080p screens. But if you happen to have a 4K TV that has HDR such as the Samsung KS8000 or the Sony XBR65x850D and just playing games and you don't have a PS4 already then yes it is worth it. Now if you have a PSVR and a 4k TV with HDR and you already have a PS4 should you? Is it worth the upgrade? Yes it is. Places like GameStop will take in trades and so the difference will be far less than paying out the $399. And I will also say this, even though the PS4 PRO comes with a 1tb hard drive, if you decide to put in a 2tb, the whole process including the installation of the hard drive and os took like less than 5 min.

The Granddaddy of display stands?

So how many of you when the PSVR came out which was a month ago today, many of us were looking for a stand to display our PSVR. Some went with what was available right then which is the one from Power A which is nice, but at the cost of a full blown out game, I wanted to wait and I am glad I did.

I at the towards the end of September pre ordered the Collective Minds that charges two ds4 controllers, two move controllers, holds the PSVR helmet, but also has a place to hang your headphones and can even charge those. The thing looks like a tank and with the blue lights, gets that sort of Tronified look to it. And if something is being charged, the light goes from blue to red. So even though it was delayed a week and a half, it was worth the wait. And what is sad is that some of the reviews on Amazon is giving it 1 star ratings only because some did not want to wait.

So in a week and a half we will have Thanksgiving. And while some of us will be eating, some of us will be planning for an event that requires planning, strategies and possibly help from family members you normally would not talk to. I am talking about Black Friday. The one day/night/weekend were the shopping frenzy starts and the deals can be good, but yet the tv or big item you may try to get will be limited. Over the years I have seen where Black Friday starts at like 7:00 am and has gotten earlier through out and now starting at 5:00 pm on Thanksgiving depending on the store. There are a few apps that will have the ads on your phone, but here is the link for Black Friday ads. So with that said, be safe, have fun and score those awesome deals.

There Is A PRO In All Of Us

Sorry about not updating like I normally do, but I had a birthday and then Halloween.

But I should be back and updating now. Plus sometimes it is good to have that mental break and just play. In case you did not notice, I updated the name of the blog to add PRO for the upcoming PS4 PRO. Why you might ask? Well not only do I love being on VR on the PSVR, but with the PS4 PRO coming out, not only will it allow developers to add to the PSVR experience, but playing enhanced games on the PS4 PRO on a 4K TV is truly going to be amazing. First and foremost this blog is about PSVR, but adding what the PRO will bring will allow a new kingdom of sorts to become one.

Delays

If you have been looking for a charge and display stand for your PSVR, you really only had one choice with the POWER A charge and display unit. Yes it does look nice, but at $49.99 I wanted something more.

So I preordered the Collective Minds one which allows you to charge two ps4 dual shock controllers, but both move controllers and a place to hang your headset which you can then plug in your headset on the back to charge it all for $34.99 and was supposed to release on October 28th...but noooooo it got pushed back. Per GameStop has a date of November 18th and hopefully Amazon will be the same.

Another delay is the PlayStation Platinum Wireless Headset. These were supposed to release shortly after the PS4 PRO, but now Sony has pushed them back until January of 2017. I say this, if the delay is only going to perfect what these should be, I am ok with that.

But if you are looking for a headset to tide you over, I would honestly suggest the Turtle Beach 350vr. Not only are these so light (honestly you may forget that they are on your head), but they do have an awesome sound with a built in amp. They do look a little cheap, but don't let that fool you one bit. Plus they match the colors of PSVR and only for $79.99.

The Pro Awaits

Coming out on November 10th the PS4 PRO makes it's long awaited debut. Retailing for $399. Comparing physical size, the PS4 Pro is 11.6 inches wide, 2.1 inches deep and 12.87 inches long, compared to the 10.4 inches wide, 1.53 inches deep and 11.33 inches long PS4 Slim. The original PS4 was 10.8 inches wide, 2.08 inches deep and 12 inches long. PS4 Pro weighs 7.26 lbs, PS4 Slim weighs 4.63 lbs and the OG PS4 weighs 6.17 pounds.

Oddly enough, when it comes to the PlayStation 4 Pro versus the PlayStation 4 Slim, only the Pro has an optical digital output terminal. Furthermore, the Pro uses more power at 310W maximum, compared to the Slim at up to 165W. PS4 Pro has three USB 3 ports; Slim has two.

So the question is does one upgrade from their current PS4 or if you recently bought a PS4 Slim? If you just bought a PS4 Slim and it was within the last 30 days from a retailer that has a return window, I would if you are sure there will be one available and have a 4k TV. Yes it's true you don't need a 4k TV, but it sure does look pretty.

But what games will have support for the PS4 PRO?

Battlefield 1

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Driveclub VR

EA Sports FIFA 17

Also, more than 45 games will be optimised for the PS4 PRO by the end of the year.

A Free...Journey

Well what seems like forever and probably one of the titles mentioned that got me excited for PSVR is coming out on Tuesday is Robinson: The Journey. Something about crash landing, having a robot and opening the door to the Land Of The Lost. But per a tweet from the developer stating that the suggested retail price would be $59.99, but if you bought from Best Buy or Amazon they have it for $39.99 and if your a prime member, take another 20% off and get it for $31.99. Great thing about this is this is coming out 2 days before the PS4 PRO and will take advantage with better visuals.

It also seems that there was a small title released named Call Of Duty Infimate Warfare. And at first when the trailer was released I wasn't really excited. I mean it is cool they are adding a VR mission and they are adding MW4 remastered which honestly that was a good Call Of Duty game. Well the VR mission is called Jackal Assault and it's now free to everyone.

Well until next time, I hope your enjoying your stay at PSVR CITY and remember there is a PRO in all of us.

What A Rush

WOW...all I am going to say is WOW. What A Rush! The future of gaming is here. With the launch and release of the PSVR many of us have now got to experience what VR is all about. I honestly have not been able to put the PSVR down. Everything From Batman to Rush of Blood to even other non game experiences. Wait...What? The Other PSVR Experiences:

Robinson: The Journey:

I wanted to point out that it was announced on Twitter that it was announced that Robinson: The Journey is coming out on November 8th. What is interesting about this date is that this is two days before the PS4 PRO and it has confirmed that Robinson: The Journey will take advantage of the PRO's power. Another interesting thing is the price.

It has also been stated that the length is around 3-5 hours. Now it could be longer depending on how much time you want to explore, but both GameStop and Amazon, have the price at $39.99 or you can get it for $31.99 if you preorder and are a prime member from Amazon and coming out sooner. GameStop has it listed coming out on October 28th, while Amazon is showing November 3rd. Now if the fact that the actual price is $59.99 and GameStop does change the price, I asked and they are saying prices are subject to change. However, at Amazon they will match the price that you did the preorder on. So again if you are a prime member you can preorder and get it for $31.99 even if the price goes up. Just to be on the safe side, do an online chat with them and ask in any way possible and have that chat emailed to you as a back up, but this could be a savings of $28.00 and if really a 3-5 hour game/experience would be more justified.

Until next time, remember the hype is real and don't let anyone try to change that for you. Very soon we may need to get on the Hype Train and take a visit to PS4 PRO town and some how combine our two communities.
